Open Source Initiative
Phonologies is an active contributor to the Open Source Community, promising quality, reliability, flexibility, lower cost and an end to predatory vendor lock-in.
Involvement:
Phonologies has contributed to the Open Source Community by distributing freely portions of source code of Oktopous™ ccXML Engine under a BSD style license. This has allowed telephony solution developers worldwide to adapt and evaluate the ccXML standard with no restrictions.
Phonologies also works with other third party Open Source products - such as FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, OpenVXI, Spider Monkey, Xerces, libCURL to name a few.
FreeSWITCH (R) FreeSWITCH is currently the most widely adopted Open Source Telephony Server. Its popularity is evident from the support of countless developers constantly improving it. Phonologies InterpreXer™ has been integrated with FreeSWITCH, running as an end to end out of the box solution for SIP deployments. Soon, Oktopous™ will be available embedded into FreeSWITCH.
Open Source Oktopous™ ccXML PIK v1.1
Oktopous™ is an abstract, C++ implementation of the W3C Call Control XML (ccXML) standard. It is a "light-weight" toolkit, independent of the underlying telephony platform / protocols and is best suited for OEM customers / System Integrators looking to implement ccXML functionality in their product offerings.
Originally developed by Phonologies, Oktopous™ v1.1 has been adopted by more telephony platforms than any open source ccXML Browser. Oktopous™ v1.1 powers over 100,000 calls daily.
Oktopous™ handles document interpretation only, requiring engineering and testing in order to be integrated into a telephony platform. It is a functional library capable of processing call control events, while all interaction with Media and Telephony resources are handled by the telephony platform or a subsystems Oktopous™ is integrated with.
You can download open source Oktopous™ from Source Forge. The package contains (i) ccXML interpreter source, (ii) reference implementations for the INET, ECMAScript, (iii) a sample ccXML application, (iv) GNU makefiles, and (v) project source files and pre-built binaries for Win32.
Oktopous™ is licensed under a 'BSD style' license, and Phonologies provides substantial documenation to help you go about incorporating Oktopous™ into your platform.
OpenVXI OpenVXI is a portable open source library that interprets VoiceXML dialog markup language documents. OpenVXI was distributed originally under 'The SpeechWorks Public License - Software, Version 1.1, Copyright (c) 2000-2001, SpeechWorks International, Inc'. The OpenVXI project was later acquired by Vocalocity. Phonologies InterpreXer™ is based on OpenVXI version 2.0.1.
